In 2002, poor illiterate Mukhtaran Mai appears before a tribal council after her brother falls foul of the Mastois, the Village`s wealthy family. Mukhtaran`s punishment gang rape by four of the Mastoi brothers. Unsupported by police and her frightened Family, Mukhtaran takes a decision that transforms her life, and the village`s: she fights back through the courts.
