After the expulsion of the Palestinians and the setting up of the state of Israel 1948 the youn Palestinan Elias Jubran stayed on in the place where he was born However because of the political situation he and his family lived in total isolation Music helped him to overcome this isolation and provided him with an escape.

The film shows his family today almost sixty years later all four of his children have grown up one of them is the musician Kamelia Jubran with thsi documantry Anne Marie Haller shows the intense interplay of music and politics in one of the world`s most politically explosive regions.
